St Aloysius' College Sesquicentennial Concerts

In August 2009 we begin the College's 151st session. We finished the 150th session with Mass concelebrated by more than 20 priests led by Bishop Moran OA during which the College Choir gave the first performance of an anthem, Serenity, presented to us by James MacMillan.

Highlights of this session will include a performance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe of l'Orfeo by Monteverdi, and our Gala Sesquicentennial concert in the Royal Concert Hall in November. As well as a new sequence of settings of songs by Robert Burns (born 1759), the concert will feature a new commission, Suscipe, Domine, a setting of the famous prayer by St Ignatius, by Howard Goodall, and Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.
